**In Stock 14th Feb** HAVI | William Morris Dinner Napkins | Pack of 20 | 33x33cm | Strawberry Thief Blue

Strawberry Thief

One of William Morris's most iconic and enduring textile designs, Strawberry Thief draws inspiration from thrushes stealing fruit in the kitchen garden of his Oxfordshire home, Kelmscott Manor. Created using the intricate indigo dye textile printingmethod, which Morris greatly admired, he first experimented with this technique in 1875. However, it wasn’t until 1881, after moving to his factory at Merton Abbey, near Wimbledon, that he perfected the process.

Bringing Strawberry Thief napkins into your home adds a touch of timeless elegance and artistry to your table setting. The charming depiction of thrushes among lush foliage and berries creates a conversation piece that connects history, nature, and art. Perfect for both everyday dining and special occasions, these napkins embody a rich heritage while offering practical beauty for your home.

William Morris (1834–1896) was a revolutionary designer, craftsman, writer, social activist, and conservationist, who introduced a new and instantly recognisable visual aesthetic into British interiors. Morris pioneered a new and refreshing approach to design and manufacture, championing hand craftsmanship during a time in British history when industrial mass-production was at its peak. Renowned for his intricate patterns inspired by nature, Morris championed the creation of beautiful, functional objects designed to endure. No single individual in Britain has had such a lasting impact on the history of British design.
