Poul Henningsen's lifelong collaboration with Louis Poulsen began in 1925. The Danish deign genius’s pioneering work concerning the relationship between light structures, shadows, glare and colour reproduction when compared to man’s need for light still forms the basis for the theories practiced by the brand to this very day.
His world-famous three-shade system, adopted by the PH 2/1 Table lamp, typifies Henningsen’s devotion to taming electric light. Based on a logarithmic spiral, it makes optimum use of the light source and the glare-free result serves to make homes all the more beautiful.
The shades, which follow a 3-2-1 relationship in terms of size, are made of mouth-blown opal glass, which is glossy on top and sandblasted matt underneath to provide soft and uniform light distribution.
