After studying decorative painting, Hongell became the first designer hired by the Karhula-Iittala glass factory in 1932. His focus was updating traditional models in serial production. Hongell designed art objects and products for serial production all in a modern spirit. His most celebrated creation was Aarne. The collection features the first single-stage stemware glass.
