The company was set up by David Mellor, Royal Designer for Industry, in the 1950s and the first and now famous David Mellor shop opened in Sloane Square, London, in 1969. It remains one of London’s most original and individual shops.
Born in Sheffield and originally trained as a silversmith, David Mellor always specialised in metalwork and is particularly famous for his cutlery. The collection he began continues to evolve, with many of the company's products - expertly selected for those who love to cook and eat - now designed by his son Corin.
